7 Ways To Say 'I Love You'  Without Having To Buy Dead Flowers

Ah... Valentines Day.

A day to celebrate Love. Every year it's the same schpeel. A day which markets the importance of purchasing expensive chocolates, candy- and dead flowers. We are comfortable celebrating our love for others with dead flowers but find it awkward to proclaim our self-love. Last year I was a single 27- year-old who made herself a vegan eggplant parmesan casserole for Valentines Day. I posted the preparation process on my Snap Chat. Food always tastes better when it has a filter on it.

I always add Love to everything I prepare. Why? Because then, love-filled food will be fueling my body and soul. I used quinoa, home-made pomodoro sauce, coconut cheese and pepper. I ate 3/4 of that casserole.

Any who, instead of being miserable and single, I decided to be grateful and happy. I made myself food. Healthy food. Filled with nutrients and protein. I did some yoga, and then I went for a run. I was single and taking care of myself on Valentines Day. I'll be damned. I love myself.

When I got home, I took a shower with my favourite Arbonne body wash and lavender essential oil (ohhh it sounds like a commercial). I read for a bit. Did about 20 minutes of Reiki for myself. Recited my nightly mantras (affirmations) and then went to bed. I love myself. *Mantras allow us to interrupt negative thought patterns I woke up the next day... and... I was still single. I love myself. The next day, I did the same thing (less the casserole). I love Myself. And... the day after that, same thing. I love myself.

Why am I telling you about my Valentines Day last year? Well, this years Valentines Day hasn't occurred yet. That's why. And. A lot has changed since then. Instead of wondering why I was alone- I embraced having time to take care of myself. The more I loved myself, the easier it became for me to weed out the dead flowers. Whether you are single or in a relationship, here are 7 ways to say 'I Love You' without dead flowers. You can say these mantras to yourself or with your loved ones. 1. I Love my self. 2. I accept and approve of myself. 3. I am worthy of love, abundance, happiness and joy. 4. I am filled with Love and Light. 5. I love myself unconditionally.

6. I am proud of myself and all that I have accomplished.

7. I love myself and I love the Earth. I know love heals everything.

Reciting these mantras (and others) daily will help you to reprogram and maintain positive thoughts which will ultimately allow you to transform your life. What we think and feel will eventually come to be. We are living magnets. What we think will come back to us. BE A LIVE FLOWER! Do I think self-love allows us to find love outside of ourselves with others? Hell yes.

We should also love ourselves and others everyday... not just on Valentine's. Now, go book your reservations and purchase those expensive gmo-chocolates and dead flowers. Thank you for reading.
